We are excited to offer a unique two-year fellowship designed for a driven veterinarian seeking to excel in both clinical practice and business leadership. This program provides an unparalleled experience, blending advanced training in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation with a deep dive into the operational pillars of a successful veterinary practice.
The selected fellow will rotate through three key areas:
Ambulatory Equine Medicine: Providing advanced care to high-performing equine athletes.
In-House Rehabilitation: Developing and implementing comprehensive recovery plans.
Business Mentorship: Gaining vast exposure to the main pillars of a veterinary business, including Marketing, Operational Effectiveness, Human Resources, Professional Development, and Financial Management.
By the end of this fellowship, you will have the knowledge and experience to not only provide exceptional clinical care but also to lead and innovate in the business side of veterinary medicine.
Objectives of the Fellowship
Clinical Excellence: Develop and implement comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans for musculoskeletal injuries in equine patients.
Client Care: Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries and conducting follow-up calls to ensure optimal recovery and satisfaction.
Knowledge & Skills: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements by participating in continuing education, professional publications, and organizational meetings.
Business Acumen: Actively engage in training to gain exposure to key business areas, including marketing, operations, human resources, leadership, and finance.
Mentorship: Serve as a mentor to interns and students, fostering their professional growth and development.
Representation: Represent the company at equine events, such as horse shows and charity events.
Research: Conduct and publish scientific research in equine sports medicine and related topics.
Competencies & Qualifications
Clinical: Must possess a deep understanding of equine sports medicine and rehabilitation, with proficiency in advanced imaging (radiographs, ultrasound). Board certification or eligibility in ACVSMR is highly recommended, as is ISELP test eligibility.
Business: A basic understanding of business concepts is required, along with a willingness to learn.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, displaying emotional intelligence, empathy, and a collaborative approach.
Professional: Upholds high ethical standards and demonstrates a professional demeanor in all interactions. A proven ability to work collaboratively is essential.
Education: DVM, VMD, or a compatible U.S. validated degree is required, with a minimum of a one-year equine internship completed.
